The overall goal of this study is to identify sociocultural stressors associated with arterial stiffness progression in Latinas.
Latinos are the fastest growing group of older adults in the U.S and will experience the greatest increase in Alzheimer’s Disease and Related Dementias (ADRD). In fact, by 2060 the number of Latinos living with Alzheimer’s will increase 8-fold.
Heart disease is the second leading cause of death among Latinas. Yet, only 1 in 3 Latinas are aware that heart disease poses a threat to their health. The menopause transition is associated with an increase in many risk factors for heart disease such as high blood pressure, obesity, and diabetes.
